Award-winning director and producer, Frank G. Caruso, will be visiting the Freeport Library on Thursday, April 24 from 6:00-8:00 to show his groundbreaking documentary This is My Sister.
This is My Sister looks at the life of Mary Fischer, a woman born with Down Syndrome in 1957. At the time, most children born with a developmental disability were placed in state institutions. However, Mary’s parents, Earl and Marion Fischer, refused.
The documentary is a remarkable story of love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion.
Donations will be accepted at the event. Funds raised will help provide summer camp scholarships to area teens with developmental disabilities.
